Fall is on its way. The days are already shortening; life is beginning to slow down from the buzz of the summer. Cool mornings, crisp evenings. And of course, layers. The word itself brings a smile to my face. How about yours?

Summer is hot, and the temperatures in Portland have been especially high this year. That means getting to water at every opportunity. But water also means finding swimwear that makes sense, something I can feel comfortable in. As bois, the typical bathing suit – women’s or men’s – just doesn’t work.
The pair you splurged on because they were just what you wanted and now wear summer after summer. That cheap pair you found in a gas station with the perfect shape. Sunglasses are another opportunity in your wardrobe to highlight your style because they can show off your personality.
How often has purchasing a button up come down to that final, dreaded button?
I first saw Jordan Barclay’s work on the great connecter that is Instagram. The fact that she was a Portland-based photographer caught my eye, and I loved the simplicity and intimacy of her photography. I could not be happier to have her be a part of Saturday Style.
Do you eagerly wait for the first day that will be above sixty degrees, so you can wear a pair of shorts? Or, are there none to be found in your closet?
I should have brought a box of Kleenex to Suited. The documentary is so much more than a film about Bindle and Keep, a New York based bespoke suit shop that has garnered a reputation for embracing the queer community. It’s an intimate portrait of the people that make up the heart of the business. In telling their stories, the message that comes through is the power of feeling confident in your clothes.
When it’s hot out, do you just want to grab a t-shirt or tank top and head out? But you have more chest than you would like and wearing a t-shirt isn’t that simple?
So you’ve always wanted a suit? The crispness of the fabric, the weight of it on your shoulders, the way it makes you feel important/official. The way it fits – you.
We're taking this show on the road. No, I am not turning this into a travel blog. it's better than that. This series will appear as a column on Boi Society!!!
Feminine touches in men's clothing draw the eye to the unexpected. The juxtaposition of female flourishes on a masculine body (cis or otherwise) make a statement. And style is all about the statement.
When should a fashion trend be followed, and when should it be bucked?
Men's shirt sleeves, too long and too wide. Granted, men don't fit into every button up they try on either, but for cis-female bodies there are often some extra challenges...
Style is often in the details, in my experience anyway. Jeans and a t-shirt: great. Jeans and a t-shirt with a pair of colorful sneakers: stylish. A suit and tie: nice. A suit and tie with a floral pocket square: stylish. Shorts and a shirt: solid. Shorts and a shirt with structured sunglasses: stylish.
If you want to step up your ankle game, nothing works better than the reincarnated jogger. No longer just for Bushwick hipsters, many brands now sell joggers in sweats and utility pants. As always, they offer a great way to show off those new sneakers.
You’ve been cooped up in the house for months cozied up in wool socks by the fire. The sun starts shining. What do you want to do? Get out. So plan a trip and grab your bag. And a good bag is hard to find. I know; I’ve looked.
I care about style and aesthetic. I notice what people wear around me and celebrate the arrival of GQ in the mail. For me, clothes are a form of expression and a way to display my personality. This series will give me the chance to explore the history of clothing, discuss trends, and provide tips to my fellow fashion aficionados. The focus will be on men’s style from a gender queer cis-female bodied perspective.
